Aside from punches, encircling the neck in either a #headlock or guillotine is a very common behavior in a fight. I’m very lucky that I have friends like @larryperreira to let me practice defense and counters with the gear on. Torso flexion is much more difficult. Keeping the back of my belt clear is much nicer on my lower back, particularly if I am stuck underneath someone.
