Attack Style Passing typically refers to threatening a submission in order to pass the guard. Sometimes this is higher risk than other times, but the effectiveness of this idea comes from the necessary response of the guard player creating space or opportunity in their reaction, allowing you to pass, potentially with a submission already working. Here are some of my favorite examples.

What’s up guys,

Today I’ve got a question from Max, who says he keeps getting caught in the Anaconda Choke in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

The Anaconda choke is a choke that starts from the front headlock, usually after some sort of snap down or fail shot attempt by the bottom man (the person defending the attack).

In this video I’ll talk about some pretty basic defense to this choke & even show a counter that comes from Wrestling that can work pretty well in BJJ too.

This counter, if done properly, will put you into a good/dominant position in the roll/match after you successfully perform the technique.

In today’s BJJ Technique video I show an Anaconda Choke and Schultz Headlock Choke from the front headlock. This is a fun combo to throw into the mix that works off the exact same grip as a setup.

Schultz headlock choke is a fun choke that some people may or may not be familiar with. Dave Schultz used it in wrestling to work towards pinning his opponents. We can use it to submit someone or advanced to a different submission or even the back.

Arm Inside Guillotines are a great attack that are hard to escape, but sometimes they can be difficult to finish on a smart defender. So what do you do when you have a full guard and a guillotine that is not in?

Sweep, redirect, and submit!

The beauty of a head inside guillotine is that it’s also a front headlock. So you have a strong wrestling position, that means you can control this person. We go over how to hit an elevator sweep, kick over sweep to anaconda, or switch to a strong half guard to get a better angle or hip bump sweep.
