What’s up guys!

So, in today’s BJJ technique video I’m going show you how a concept to hide your Arm Bars when you’re grappling. We will play on this idea that most competent Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners have great initial responses to attacks.

Whether that be an armbar, or some random Bearded guy rolling up behind them at the local Whole Foods and throwing up a Rear Naked Choke, most people in BJJ will defend almost immediately just off muscle memory.

During your training you develop this sensitivity to submissions, and the grips needed to set them up, and you will usually react to the first threat attempted.

So, the question is, how do we successfully implement our armbars in BJJ when most people have the ability to stop our first move in most Jiu-Jitsu situations? How do we execute a technique if the person already knows your setup?

Well, in this video we’re going to explore some ideas on how to set up BJJ armbars with a little more stealth, that way you can actually secure your submissions!

Hopefully you guys enjoy the video!

Today’s video is going to be a super basic White Belt video for those of you who are newer to Jiu-Jitsu.

I am going to go over the differences between the key lock and the basic kimura. On top of that I’ll show some basic set ups for both.

These are two basic submission attacks in BJJ that most people will learn within their first year, if not earlier, of BJJ.

Although these 2 are pretty basic submissions in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, they are often confused for one another even though they’re quite different.

Hopefully if you’re a white belt in Grappling, training No-Gi or Gi Jiu-Jitsu (or both), you found these ideas useful for you.

Want to increase the finish rate with armlocks from side control? Then this video is for you. In this video I’m going to show you my Arm Scoop position from side control along with a ton of important details for finish straight arm locks, kimuras and wrist locks. This is one of my highest percentage attacks in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. I’ve done some form of these submissions since I was a White Belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and have used them all the way to Black belt.

But as I’ll share, the most important part is the setup. If you use the arm scoop position like I show in the video, you’ll find that it’s so much easier to catch and finish your BJJ submissions from side control.

Enjoy the video and I hope it helps.

San Diego, CA offers a variety of great opportunities; the weather, the beach, entertainment and especially jiu-jitsu. We had the opportunity recently to finally meet up with an individual who’s been getting a lot of requests from fans to be in Jiu-Jitsu Magazine. Enter Keenan Cornelius, who dropped some knowledge on us at Atos Jiu-Jitsu (http://www.atosjiujitsuhq.com).

In this video Keenan demonstrates three moves from his lapel guard. The firs is an X-guard sweep, followed by a back take, and finishes with a sweep to armbar. Assisting him is Leo D’avila.

For the full breakdown of all the moves seen in this video, as well as a personal Q&A with Keenan be sure to grab a copy of issue #24 of Jiu-Jitsu Magazine.

About Keenan:
Keenan Cornelius went from unknown purple belt to celebrity status within the jiu-jitsu community in an extremely short amount of time. He is the only competitor to ever win the Grand Slam of jiu-jitsu; which is double gold medals (both his weigh class and absolute/open weight class) in the four major IBJJF events (European Open Championships, Pan-American Championships, World Championships and Brazilian National Championships) all within a years time at his belt level (purple at the time). Keenan nearly competed a second Grand Slam at brown belt, narrowly missing by an advantage point at the World Championships. His website is http://www.keenan-cornelius.com.
