Recently I was talking to one of my White Belts, I was helping him out with a detail from Mount, and I was showing him a technique we’ve been doing at the gym since 2012-13 when we were prepping for comp.

It was a cheat code when our athletes got to Mount in Jiu-Jitsu competitions.

This technique will help you set up a bunch of submissions, backtakes, and more.

The Dope Mount is used consistently in gi, no gi, and MMA grappling to climb directly into mount through your opponent’s guard. The legwork is in four steps as follows…
1) Turn his legs to one side and split them apart
2) Bring your front side knee between his legs and all the way up to his butt
3) Bring your back side knee to his lower back
4) Now climb your front side knee to his belly

If you combine this legwork with an underhook on his upper body (or even two underhooks which is even more powerful) then you end up in a devastatingly effective mount position
