<p>Today we&#8217;ve got a question from Joe who is wondering what BJJ Black Belts/Jiu-Jitsu Instructors watch for when looking at students rolling.</p>
<p>He says that his gym is like most where they do a basic warm-up, drill techniques, then do live rounds.</p>
<p>He says that there are so many times that he wants to work on something new, but he&#8217;s scared that this might make him look bad Infront of his coach: because with most new techniques you try, you suck at them initially.</p>
<p>He doesn&#8217;t want his coach to think &#8220;Damn, he&#8217;s not improving and he&#8217;s not ready for advancement&#8221;</p>
<p>Joe, it would be helpful if you talked to your coach for clarification, but here&#8217;s how I view my students&#8217; rolls&#8230;</p>

<p>I get a lot of questions from people (my students and online followers) about the best foods to eat before BJJ training. Many people ask this because they struggle to eat and then train without feeling sick. I literally just had this conversation with one of my students in the gym the other day.</p>
<p>So in this video I share some basic ideas on what&#8217;s worked for me and my Brazilian Jiu-jitsu training. Warning! This is a video talking about diet which means everyone, and their mother is going to have something to say about it. Here&#8217;s my advice. Don&#8217;t fall victim to zealotry when it comes to dieting. Most often people push this stuff for their benefit, not yours. </p>
<p>And with that said my encouragement is to try things out for yourself. So I lay out the methodology of me pre-training nutrition along with some of my favorite pre-training foods. </p>
