Recently I got a question from a White Belt who has recently looked to add more Back-Takes to his game.

So, I figured it I would show you guys one of the best ways to get to back mount that works well for White Belts and will continue to work well for you untill you’re a Black Belt.

This one is a Jiu-Jitsu back take that is super fundamental, and works at any level, while also being simple enough to not overwhelm the average BJJ practitioner.

The reason why I’m showing this as a “White Belt” video is becuase this is 1 of the techniques I show early on to my newer BJJ students that works really well for them when it comes to getting to back mount.

Hopefully you find these ideas helpful if you were struggling to take the back.

Some people call it cross side, side body or side control. It’s essentially all the same. It’s a pinning position with many different ways to pin the person flat on their back while using their weight and position to control and attack their opponent. It can be difficult to escape when your are flat but there are some easy escapes when your opponent tries to progress their position by going to the mount. These surprise escapes require proper timing to perform to when done right they are my favorite ways to escape.
