Stopping Stiff Arms

In a recent video. I discussed various awesome techniques to stop your training partners passing your guard. Each one of them works incredibly well. One of those was using ‘stiff arms’ – this means locking your arms out so that it is ‘structure’ not ‘muscle’ that is holding back your opponent. Believe me – it’s massively powerful. Ok, but like everything in Jiu-Jitsu – there are counters, and counters to your counters. And so it is with this move. Now if your training partner has watched my ‘guard retention’ series. Headlock Control Series!

This is a fantastic little submission chain of techniques that I like to teach from my white belts and beyond. The Headlock Control Series. Now when you pass your opponents guard. To get the ‘headlock control’ you will need both the head and the arm. Just getting the head in control only works on your baby brother when you were playfighting as kids. But that’s only the beginning. There are many variables at play and to get that submission on an experienced grappler, you will need to use all of them and in unison. Cradle Attack Series – One Arm Anaconda!

Now for part 3 of my cradle attack series and I have saved one of my favourites until the last. This is a really neat little submission and I found it difficult to find the origin of the name. It’s kinda like a one arm Anaconda. But with a squish at the end? Anyway, whatever it’s called, it works. And I really enjoy this.
