The Sorcerer is a highly complex technique set up from the Rubber Guard. To this point Manny is the only person to have ever submitted an opponent in competition with the Sorcerer; he has done so (on camera) 4 times.

Brandon Mccaghren of 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Decatur Alabama teaches the Monoplata from the mounted position. This is a great transition for MMA, as evidenced by elite grapplers like Vinny Magalhaes and Shinya Aoki. It may be difficult to pull off this technique from the mount against an experienced grappler, as they aren’t likely to put their hands in this position. There are, however, lots of great entries to the monoplata from other positions that we will cover in subsequent videos.
