<p>Tightness and stiffness in the ankles can be a significant limitation in your squatting mechanics and specifically squatting depth, it can effect your ability to sit back and maintain proper posture when in your opponent&#8217;s closed-guard, and also be a factor in how well you can use your feet as &#8220;hooks&#8221; to control your opponent during training.</p>
<p>Having a thorough and complete approach will check the boxes to ensure that you address the tight muscles, improve joint mobility in the ankle, and also begin the process of maintaining your new ankle mobility by activating the muscles and strengthening in your newly obtained range of motion.</p>
