<p>Something that I&#8217;ve been told many times now by BJJ students or instructors is that you should always be on what are called &#8220;Live Toes.&#8221;</p>
<p>Anytime I hear someone say &#8220;always&#8221; or &#8220;never&#8221; in BJJ, it tells me that they haven&#8217;t thought very deeply about what they&#8217;re doing and why.</p>
<p>I know why they&#8217;re told this &#8211; it&#8217;s because so much of modern BJJ is based on constant movement and being on your toes allows you to transition to a faster movement position but at the cost of control. </p>
<p>Here, I discuss the various foot positions and what the Pros and Cons of each are.</p>
