<p>By adding this little tip in your side control will not only be harder to escape it will suck to be in. Moving up and getting under that arm will make a world of difference when it comes to control and pressure.</p>

<p>The flower sweep or pendulum sweep which ever you’d like to call it is a very powerful sweep from the closed guard but at the high levels grapplers will have amazing balance. Even at a blue belt level grapplers will be more aware and ready to post.</p>

<p>It feels good to be back! I hope everyone had as great of a week as me. I got stuck right in the middle of hurricane Nate on my cruise haha but I pretty much just got an extra two days of vacation so I can&#8217;t complain at all!</p>
<p>This is by far my favorite way to recover Guard. The granby roll is a super effective technique to stop guard passers. Once you have perfected this technique it will seem almost impossible to pass your guard.</p>
<p>I didn&#8217;t mention It in the video but an important thing I&#8217;m doing is when I go up on my side I am also keeping my hand down low to prevent my opponent from just getting their hooks in and taking my back.your opposite and can be used as a distance maker as you can see me doing in the video.</p>
<p>You want to really make sure you are getting up to your shoulder and neck to maximize your roll power. If you don&#8217;t go all the way up you will be shut down instantly.</p>

</p>
<p>These bjj side control escapes have helped me out many times. I actually got hit with this technique when I was a blue belt and adopted it in my game. The key is just getting enough movement to make them post their hand out. After that you are free to move again.</p>
<p>If they do not post their hand out it should be fairly easy to finish the first arm roll escape. Again the key is momentum so I have to follow through without stopping. Otherwise this Escape will be extremely hard and will become a muscle move rather than actual technique.</p>
<p>By locking out the arm when you do the big wave you are stopping them from just squeezing you back down to the mat so be sure to really drill this detail in your head if you plan on using it! </p>
