When it comes to the Triangle Choke, people are usually in such a hurry to lock it up that they skip this critical step.

To maximize your chances of getting a full lockup, push off the opponent and walk your hips/shoulders back until your femur is positioned vertically. Doing this will maximize your leg length and facilitate the lockup, especially when you have short legs! Try this on your quarantine team and let me know how it helps!
