Attack Style Guard Passing Options

Attack Style Passing typically refers to threatening a submission in order to pass the guard. Sometimes this is higher risk than other times, but the effectiveness of this idea comes from the necessary response of the guard player creating space or opportunity in their reaction, allowing you to pass, potentially with a submission already working. Here are some of my favorite examples.

0:00 – 0:42: Intro
0:43 – 2:12: Diving Kimura Trap
2:13 – 3:29: Front Headlock to Anaconda
3:30 – 4:28: Front Headlock to Darce
4:29 – 5:43: “Flying” Triangle
5:52 – 6:53: “Flying” Arm Bar
6:54 – 7:57: Front Headlock to Back Take
7:58 – 9:09: Arm Drag to Back Take
9:10 – 10:31: Diving Toe Hold
10:32 – 11:48: Ham Sandwich

Guard Pass Prevention Tactics – Jiu-Jitsu Strategies

Getting your guard passed sucks. The problem is that we tend to fight hard to prevent it from happening, only to be exhausted, mentally and physically, when and if it happens. But, by prioritizing your tactics for guard play, guard retention and pass prevention in early to late stages, you can take some of the stress and exhaustion out of the process. In this video, I try to offer some solutions for that process. Hope it helps.
