Today’s video is going to be a bit different.

#1 This is a call-to-action video. Guys, please trim your fingernails & toenails.

#2 if you’re new to Jiu-Jitsu and want to find some eye protection, this will be useful.

This idea came about because I was scrolling through the internet one day, and found a question related to a student of mine.

So, the question was basically about eye protection. The guy who asked it had some previous injuries that left him seeing only about 5% through one eye. He wants to make sure he doesn’t damage it even more and wants to protect the 1 good eye that he has left.

He was also wondering which type of eye protection he should get.

Lastly, he wanted to know what the culture of eye protection is in BJJ, if people would get pissed at him wearing it, etc.

Recently, one of my students, Brandon, got into a leg lock shootout with a crazy training partner when visiting a gym somewhere else. In the end, he was kicked in the eye and left blind for days as a result.

His doctor basically told him that he should not roll again unless he wears protection as it can permanently damage his eyes if something bad like that happens again.

He had gotten a pretty bad corneal abrasion that left him with an insane infection in his eyes.

Now he always trains with goggles & wears head gear to help keep them tight while rolling.

Hopefully, you found this video helpful.

– Chewy

P.S Here are the goggles Brandon uses

What’s up guys,

Today we’ve got a question from a young fan who has been doing Boxing & Jiu-Jitsu for about a year and he says that sparring makes him panic.

He’s anxious about the various potential injuries and asked me if I had any ideas on how he can overcome these feelings because he wants to be a successful martial artist.

He thinks overcoming this fear of injury will help him outside of martial arts with various things and so he sends the message above…

What this young man is going through is normal & natural.

Many people who train in Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing, or any other Martial Art have this sinking feeling of anxiety, this pit feeling in their stomach, because of potential injuries.

In this video, I’ll discuss my own experience and how I think you can start overcoming it.

Thanks for watching the video.
