Do Black Belts have bad days on the mat during BJJ training? This is the question I got from one of my White Belts in the gym and 1 of the followers who is a Purple Belt.

In the video I answer the obvious, which is YES, of course I have bad days. But I’ll explain why I have less bad days during my Brazilian Jiu-jitsu training and how I do that. Hopefully you can take an idea from the video to chew on for your own training.

Hope the video is helpful to you regardless of your current skill level in grappling.

In this video, I share a bit of martial philosophy that I picked up from a reading in the ancient Chinese text the Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu. I have always been interested in philosophy, and I particularly like learning about some of the old Eastern thinkers.

And before you say anything; yes, I know it’s pronounced “dao” and not “tao”
I have an Alabama public school education so, bear with me from time to time. You’re lucky I can even read.

And I share a story about a time that Jean Jacques had some basic and beautiful words of wisdom for me. I thought he was only teaching me about guard passing. But turns out, he had a much deeper message than a simple Brazilian Jiu Jitsu lesson.

Hope you guys enjoy.
