Jiu Jitsu tends to have trends with passing styles and guard styles. Pressure passing for a long time was discounted in lighter divisions but more recently it has been making a return. Andris has some of the best details I have seen on pressure passing systems, what I like about these systems is they are easy to implement on someone before they establish a guard they like to play, which allows you to pass without putting your self in too much danger. Look out for more videos soon with Andris as well as another upcoming Q and A soon. Comment and let me know your questions and request for the next Q and A.

This video I talk about the idea of specific training from the end positions in a sequence you are developing. Often techniques have different small positions within them that are critical to master, by starting at the end first you have more efficient use of time. If you start with the beginning of a sequence but can’t even get into the end position it’s hard to develop that necessary experience to trust in the position. I have used this method of training to teach my self berimbolos, spider guard, de la Riva Guard, and all different methods of guard passing through out my career. I hope it helps and please comment if you have any questions or requests for future videos.

Passing the De La Riva Guard is one of the most important skill sets in passing the guard. It is probably the easiest guard for someone to establish and therefore the most important to know how to pass.

The purpose of this video is to define the main pass options you have in the position so you know what to consider when deciding how to deal with the position. Part 2 of this series will cover the ways your opponent can control you with varying grip variations and help guide you to choose the best pass choice.

List of Passes from Video
Knee Cut, Shin Slide, Leg Drag, Reverse Leg Drag, Leg Trap(Stuff), Folding Pass, DLR Side Knee Smash, Stack Pass, Kick the Grip off Ankle.
