The other day I did a little experiment! I took my Chewjtisu gi made by Origin in ‘Murica and put it up against my old Chewjitsu gi made overseas.

My Origin has their American pearl weave unique to them and my other gi has a traditional pearl weave we’ve all used.

Here’s what I did.

#1 I weighed them.
The Origin was slightly lighter but both were hovering close to 3lbs. Pretty normal for my gis. Mind you I hate ultra-light gis. Thin fabric is hell for breaking grips.

#2 I washed them and then weighed them again.
I wanted to see which one retained more water. The traditional pearl weave retained about twice as much water, while the Origin top felt almost dry to the touch and the pants were slightly damp. The fact that the Origin top was almost dry really surprised me.

This may not seem like a big deal. But part of the reason why gis get so hot is because they get soaked with water and your sweat can’t evaporate efficiently. This is why moisture wicking clothes keep you cool.

#3 I dried them on high heat.
I wanted to see which 1 dried faster. Sadly, Jess and I got distracted watching a show and I didn’t do my 1st test until after 15 minutes. But at 15 minutes my Chewjitsu gi by Origin was bone dry while my old school Chewjitsu gi was still a bit damp.

Speaking of fast drying Chewjitsu gis. If you’d like to get 1 yourself plus $147 worth of bonuses, then click the link below.
https://chewjitsu.myshopify.com/products/chewjitsu-gi-by-origin

The bonuses include. . .
– A physical chewjitsu journal (with shipping it’s usually just shy of $20)
– Access to my Get a Grip Series (I’ve sold this for as much as $47)
– Access to a gi and no gi seminar I did back in 2019. (Cost $80 to attend)
– And I may be adding some more stuff, not sure yet.

When deciding what I think are the most important escapes that people should learn early on in their training, I considered things positionally. The big 4 positions you’ll spend the most time in are mount, side control, guard and back mount. Being on the losing end of these sucks. Learning how to escape these positions is one of the most useful ways to spend your training time.

In this video, I show what I consider to be the most useful and helpful escapes from these positions.

• Upa Escape from Mount
• Elbow Escape from Mount
• Guard Replacement from Side Control
• Back Mount Escape
• Knee Cut Guard Pass

I hope this video is helpful. Let me know your thoughts in the comments. Thank you all for watching!

That ankle pop looks painful! So we designed a rehab program that works to fix those injuries and survive those leg lockers. Ankle sprains are a really common injury, especially when footlocks & ankle locks start getting involved. Of course there are many other ways to sprain an ankle on and off the mats. What we have for you is a way to recover from it!
