A good sweep attempt will almost get some defensive reaction. And that reaction might cause you to lose the sweep, but in that moment there might be other opportunities for attacks.

Once you identify those opportunities then you can start setting traps. And in this video, you will see one such example.

4 Full Guard Sweeps Every BJJ White Belt Should Learn As Early As Possible

In today’s Bjj technique video I show you 4 fundamental full guard sweeps that every White Belt should learn as early as possible. I call them fundamental sweeps because they’re essential techniques that have useful movements which can be used in a myriad of positions in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. And I say that every BJJ White Belt should learn them early because they can be used to setup combos and other attacks that will serve them well until they’re a Black Belt.

For instance the scissor sweep is a good basic sweep that is great for learning to open your guard and progress to open guards later on in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The bump sweep is great as a sweep but also is incredibly effective off-balancing technique that can lead to lots of other options in Brazilian Jiujitsu. And each closed guard sweep in this video has the same qualities to it.

Scissor Sweep to Twister Back Take

Scissor sweep directly into a twister back take set up is a great combo, in my opinion. If you can hit the sweep directly to the mount, the hyper correction to set up the twister roll is right there. This is a fun one.
