<p>Recently 1 of my smaller BJJ students was asking questions about how to add top pressure in Side Control. So, I gave them a few tips that helped them out and I figured I&#8217;d share them with you. </p>
<p>As a smaller person in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu you can certainly add top pressure. But you&#8217;ve got to me more deliberate than say a 300lbs person who can have sloppy positioning but still feel like a ton of bricks. And the video will give you some ideas on how to do that.</p>
<p>That said, all of the stuff that I talk about in the video is perfectly useable for a bigger person too. They&#8217;re sound fundamentals. But again, if you want to have strong pressure on top of side control and don&#8217;t want to get rolled, then they&#8217;re even more important if you&#8217;re not a massive person. </p>

<p>Today&#8217;s BJJ Q&#038;A video is from Josh who&#8217;s a big guy who wants to move more like a &#8220;little&#8221; guy. I put that in air quotes because I know plenty of smaller BJJ practitioners who have great smash games.  But getting back to his question he says that during his Brazilian Jiu-jitsu practices, his coach encourages him towards a more pressure and smash style game whereas he seems interested in a lot of open guards and other positions more commonly associated with smaller Brazilian Jiu jitsu players. </p>
<p>In this video I&#8217;ll explain why you want to have a big guy game and a little guy game (and how you can make that happen). I&#8217;ll also talk about why you should always keep in mind that your BJJ game is your own and you can create it however you&#8217;d like. </p>

<p>Everyone wants the ability to roll with bigger stronger people in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, right?</p>
<p>I mean it&#8217;s part of the mythology of BJJ. That technique trumps all. That some of the Gracies were smaller, weaker people and they were able to win their opponents. </p>
<p>In this video I explain how if you want to be a Giant Slayer in BJJ you have to be willing to walk in the Land of The Giants. </p>
<p>What I mean by this is that if you want to be able to use your Brazilian Jiujitsu techniques against bigger people. You&#8217;ve got to be willing to roll, drill and train with big guys during your BJJ training. </p>
<p>I share a short story about one of my smallest students who was forced to learned how to use his BJJ against some of the biggest guys in my gym. </p>
<p>If you&#8217;re a smaller weaker person and you&#8217;re trying to beat bigger people in BJJ. I hope this video is helpful. </p>

<p>In today&#8217;s video we&#8217;re talking about how to roll with smaller people in BJJ.</p>
<p>Our question comes from Tommy who is a strong Wrestler who has a distinct advantage on the feet because of his wrestling skill.</p>
<p>He says that when he rolls with people he feels a certain level of guilt with his rolling partners.</p>
<p>The guilt associated with it is because if they&#8217;re smaller, he feels like maybe he should take it easy on them.</p>
<p>But he feels guilty to himself for not taking advantage of the situation to attack and work on his techniques.</p>
<p>In this video I discuss the approach I use with my Brazilian Jiujitsu training partners and what has been helpful to me on the mats and has made my game so much better than it used to be.</p>
<p>As I&#8217;ll talk about in the video. When I first began BJJ training. I used my A Game every roll.</p>
<p>I would go hard and just use the same techniques over and over again. But it wasn&#8217;t until I put a lot of effort into opening up and rolling with people differently that my Brazilian Jiu-jitsu abilities improved at a rapid rate.</p>
