This video I discuss the concept of single sleeve control. This is commonly one of the first grips you get in jiu jitsu as your opponent needs to use his hand to commit to making a grip which always makes a sleeve available. This position is a starting point for transitioning into most open guards in BJJ such as Collar Sleeve, Spider/Double Sleeve, Cross Sleeve DLR, Cross Guard, Romulo Guard, Reverse DLR and more. I cover some basics of control as well as concepts for how you can transition to other positions with it. Let me know if you have any questions or requests.

This video I demonstrate some concepts for recomposing from side control when you have already connected your elbow and knee as well as recovering when you are in north south with a strong elbow frame in arm pit. These positions are the mid step from full escaping side control and north south, yet I see many people get to these position and not be able to full escape. I like to have students start in this position and work in escaping as it’s easier than escaping full side but also necessary to be able to escape. I focus a lot on using your outside Leg to recenter as well focusing on not allowing your hip to get turned away. Please comment and leave questions for problems you have that come up when you start specific training. I would like to start giving homework to the people watching and give room to comment and ask questions so I can better address the mistakes coming up. I put up a lot of additional content on my Instagram with smaller details please follow there for more content.

This video I talk about the idea of specific training from the end positions in a sequence you are developing. Often techniques have different small positions within them that are critical to master, by starting at the end first you have more efficient use of time. If you start with the beginning of a sequence but can’t even get into the end position it’s hard to develop that necessary experience to trust in the position. I have used this method of training to teach my self berimbolos, spider guard, de la Riva Guard, and all different methods of guard passing through out my career. I hope it helps and please comment if you have any questions or requests for future videos.

This is a collaboration video with my friend and one of the Worm Guard inventors Andris Brunovskis. In this video we discuss the idea of using the belt grip as a strong initial entanglement grip for locking your opponent up. The basic idea is to lock you opponent into some grip he can’t escape from easy as a platform to build your guard from in my previous video I talk about three strong grips you can use to accomplish that, this is a fourth and more modern grip I like as well. Andris Brunovskis has his own YouTube channel as well check it out for more Lapel, Belt, and Worm Guard info as well as some brutal Pressure passing.

In this video I explain the importance of specific training. Specific training is the concept of breaking Jiu Jitsu down into multiple smaller positions that are easier to understand and fight from there. It allows you to speed up the learning process drastically. It also is great to combine with learning Jiu Jitsu from online videos. I include footage of my self doing specific sparring.
