Kimura Trap Roll Counter to Switch

Sometimes family can betray you, and in this case it does so with no remorse. When we are getting Switched, just as we limp our arm out, instead of letting them lock on a Kimura, you lock on a Kimura on their arm, hooking your leg and roll through. It will be you that steals their momentum and lands in the Kimura TV position in the driver’s seat.

Kimura Trap TV Leg Hook to Butt Roll

This is one of my favorite ways to take the back. Scratch that, it’s my favorite.

Why? Because it does not require speed, flexibility or strength. It’s all leverage, and can be done in a slow and controlled manner. I use the leg hook whenever I can, as it will shut down the spazzy fighters from being able to explode out of your TV position. Then, you can methodically work to the back using the butt roll.

TV Same Side Kimura

What if you don’t want to chance your prey escaping? Then we get on top and attack right away. The same side Kimura would be the ideal option, is it is a very powerful Kimura finish with not much recourse for your opponent. Otherwise, you can score a traditional top side control and pursue the classic Kimura there.

TV Head Scissors

Sometimes your opponent will stay put, knowing that they will get caught deeper in the trap if they bridge and roll. That’s okay – we can cut them up with the head scissors choke!

This simple choke is very effective, and also has options to regain top position and resume your Kimura onslaught.

TV Back Take

One of the most common reactions to being put into the Kimura Trap TV position is to bridge and roll. It is instinct for people to try and recover top position, and we get to use that instinct against them!

By bridging, they have exposed their back. That allows us to attack and take their back while getting a choke set up simultaneously.

Kimura Trap Against Turtle

Attacking the turtle position can be annoying against a very defensive player. A good way of cracking that shell is to set up a Kimura Trap. It is hard for them to defend this, even if they are shelled up tight, because you are going over the shell, and not reaching inside it. Once you pull them back, their belly is exposed, and all of the submission attacks expose themselves.
