<p>Recently I&#8217;ve been getting a ton of gym business related questions from BJJ coaches. But also from people running other niche gyms. </p>
<p>And I figured I&#8217;d do some videos on the topics from time to time. </p>
<p>But at the same time I wanted to introduce you to my business partner Joe. </p>
<p>In our business he covers many of my gaps and does things that I am terrible with and vice versa. We work together as a team on our gym to make it an awesome place to train. </p>
<p>We&#8217;re a nearly 9000 sq ft facility with Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, Boxing, Kickboxing, Weight lifting and more. </p>
<p>And the gym is packed everyday. </p>
<p>It wasn&#8217;t always this way and we&#8217;ve learned a lot of stuff over the years that we hope to share with you. </p>

Recently I had 2018 IBJJF World Champ Mahamed Aly out to our gym to train and do some videos. </p>
<p>Along with all the Brazilian Jiu-jitsu training we did at my gym Derby City MMA. </p>
<p>We also got together for some weight lifting. </p>
<p>Since we both had finished a Brazilian Jiujitsu session. We didn&#8217;t go very heavy. </p>
<p>Instead we were doing some technique work on Olympic Weight Lifting. Namely the Snatch. </p>
<p>And afterwards we did a bunch of ab exercises. This part wasn&#8217;t really planned. </p>
<p>You really get a sense of what kind of freak athlete Mahamed is when you see a 230lbs man moving around on the rings and bars. </p>
<p>It was impressive. </p>
<p>During the Olympic lifting portion we were guided by my buddy Joe who is the head coach for our Strength and Conditioning program along with his coach Joe who is big into olympic lifting. </p>
<p>Joe also works for Uesaka barbell. </p>
<p>Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this Vlog with Mahamed and I just messing around. </p>

<p>It can be hard to balance weight training and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. I know that for me, I struggled with it at a point in my life where I was getting bigger and stronger and was chasing numbers in the weight room.</p>
<p>But then struggled with my BJJ training because I was too big and beat up for sufficient rolling and work on the mats.</p>
<p>And in this video I talk about this in the hopes to assist our friend Peter who is a Powerlifter getting into Brazilian Jiujitsu.</p>
<p>He says that since training Jiujitsu he&#8217;s noticed that his lifts have dropped in their overall poundage.</p>
<p>And his question is two fold. . .</p>
<p>1. How to Balance BJJ training with his Powerlifting?</p>
<p>2. Should he readjust his expectations for training?</p>
<p>I also touch on the current program I follow for lifting in order to support my BJJ training.</p>
