For those of you who have my passing instructional- take a look at this. As you know, when attacking the guard we have a set of broad goals overall and a set of specific goals per position. Broad goals include pinning the head and shoulders (before or after passing the legs), creating so much pressure that there is back exposure available, getting the feet and knees to point away from us, and to create limb extension to enter into submissions. Here @bjjdamien does a beautiful job of putting side to side pressure with loose passing to create limb extension. The prerequisite to any submission is limb extension. Without limb extension there is no submission. Without positional pressure there is no limb extension. You will only become a true master of attacking an opponents guard once youve mastered the ability to put genuine positional pressure on your opponent and force them to move in directions you want them to. Damien did just that. Positional pressure via loose passing–>extended leg–> outside ashi garami–> outside heel hook. Its so amazing that not only myself, but also my team mates can demonstrate everything im teaching you guys against highly skilled and highly resisting opponents. It doesn’t work on accident, its science.
