McKeesport, PA. In the press conference it was reported that the suspect slipped his cuffs to the front sometime after the arrest and during the transport and that he had a gun somewhere on his person.
Prior to the shooting, the suspect was served with a protection order that he allegedly violated twice after being served. He was contacted and arrested for the violations in his vehicle and was combative during the arrest. A firearm was recovered inside his vehicle Incident to arrest.
Officer Geriasimos Athens was shot in the neck and torso and returned fire. They do not believe the suspect was shot. Ofc Athens is in stable condition. The suspect is still at large.
