Inside the many years you will spend learning & adding techniques to your arsenal, it will become less about adding & more about connecting. The goal is to have all your best techniques & positions so connected that once your opponent enters your game, he is doomed well before the finish ever occurs. Understanding the most likely reactions & where exactly you land after a technique is performed will help you put the best pieces together. Consider it like a funnel. Once they are inside your funnel, all roads lead to checkmate whether they like it or not 🧠💪🏼

Here is an example of how my funnel works. Sweep straight to pressure pass, kimura threat leads to neck attack, neck attack leads to mount, mount leads to double trouble 😉♾

Tate is the youngest son of my coach @matrixgrappling & is currently ranked the #2 best high school wrestler in the country at 195lbs. He is a Fargo National Champion & has committed himself to wrestling @uofoklahoma next year alongside his brother. He has practiced wrestling, judo, & Jiu-Jitsu/grappling his whole life under the tutelage of his father who is one of my Black Bets & is elite at all three disciplines. Despite being only 17yrs old, Tate is a handful for anybody & is sure to go on to have great success at the D1 & international levels. During quarantine we were able to get a lot of training in together (which was amazing!) & this little scrap was right before school started back up in August. This will probably become one of, if not the last takedown I ever hit on him 😆

The ⛰ @victorhugojj & I flowing @lovatobjjmma in our last session before competing tomorrow @ibjjf OKC Open. This is when Jiu-Jitsu can become like a dance. We are not resisting each other at all, but only providing natural energy to help provide different scenarios for the other person to work with. It’s all about the precision of the movements & developing quick reaction speed. This is my favorite way to drill.

This Saturday I will be stepping on the mats to compete in an @ibjjf adult division for the first time in over 5 years as I lead my team of 80+ at the inaugural #OKC International Open. This video is from the last time I battled the young guys when I made my comeback after a torn pec tendon surgery/recovery. Can’t wait to get back out there this weekend & battle with my #TeamLovato family!!!

#Throwback to 2yrs ago at this time when I won my 5th straight @bellatormma fight & secured my number one contender status defeating the warrior @johnsalter_mma. This is a pretty cool video by @fightgameseries of John talking about the fight from his perspective. Lots of respect for him & hope that he will finally get his title shot against the winner of Mousasi & Lima.
