I learned this style of back taking from Shawn Hammonds as a blue belt. The way he taught it to me was wait for them to try and recover guard than hop and beat them to the punch. Which is extremely effective. I use that motion all the time now when I chase the back it really changed the game for me.
Now some people stopped going to guard after I was beating them to the punch with this every time. So I started forcing them to go into the roll by making them shift to their hip.
The next problem I ran into. Reallly flexible people. Like myself. I’d try the roll and they would stay turtled. So I would combine these two things together. Sometimes I will sit them to their butts to get the back or I will just put pressure forward and try to get them as they go back to turtle.
P.S. no liabilities
