5 years ago I saw a post and I saved it, because at that time I did not understand well what it meant, but I knew how important those words were. 5 years later I see myself raising a little girl and everything makes complete sense now. “young women need self defense more than anyone. they must be taught that no one should tell them they need a men for their own protection. they should be taught that being a girl is a powerful thing and not a disadvantage. they should be taught not only to fight abusive man but a culture that keeps telling them they cant do something just because they are girls. as martial art instructors is our duty to teach them to stand up and always fight for themselves, because fighting like a girl is a beautiful thing.”

Há 5 anos atras vi uma postagem e salvei, porque naquela época não entendia bem o real significado, mas sabia o quão importantes eram aquelas palavras. 5 anos depois, eu me vejo criando uma menina e tudo faz sentido agora. “meninas precisam de defesa pessoal mais do que ninguém. deve ser ensinado que ninguém deve dizer-lhes que elas nunca dependem de um homem para defende-las. deve ser ensinadas que ser uma menina é uma coisa poderosa e não uma desvantagem. deve ser ensinado não apenas a lutar contra homem abusivo, mas também contra uma cultura que diz que elas não podem fazer algo só porque são meninas. como instrutores de artes marciais é nosso dever ensiná-las a se levantar e sempre lutar por si mesmas, porque “fighting like a girl is a beautiful thing”. ”
