BJJ World Champion Jeff Glover thought the SafeWrap System was a gimmick, so he asked us to try and arrest him.
Jeff fought harder and longer than virtually every volunteer we’ve had, that, combined with his 20+ years of BJJ, made for quite an interesting challenge.
SafeWrap is a proprietary system of restraint that is designed to maximize physical control while reducing the risk of injury to all parties involved in a use of force encounter.
The system was created by Gracie University in response to inquiries from healthcare institutions that needed a way to safely restrain aggressive, suicidal, or emotionally disturbed patients in hospitals. With patient safety as the top priority, it was imperative that the system utilize no joint locks, no choke holds, and no strikes. The system was specifically designed to minimize compression of the diaphragm to facilitate free breathing and reduce the potential of a panicked response in the restrained individual.
Due to its medical and tactical advantages, especially when dealing with individuals suffering mental health crisis, SafeWrap has been adopted across various sectors from healthcare to law enforcement to fire/EMS and education, even churches are getting their staff trained in SafeWrap to help ensure that anytime restraint is necessary, it can be achieved with the lowest probability of injury to all parties.
SafeWrap instructor certification is now included in all Gracie Survival Tactics (GST) Level 2 courses as well as all Gracie Medical Defense (GMD) instructor courses. Certification can also be achieved in a standalone 2-day SafeWrap course.
To help ensure the quality of instruction and end-user applications, SafeWrap requires a license for use. The license is currently free for all military, law enforcement, and first responder organizations.
