Great video.
Can someone please explain the dds/ryan hall beef?
Um, someone should tell Gordon that Olympic medalist freestyle wrestlers DO train judo. Whether they do it in the gi is another debate.
Hmm….not sure how one example of a guy past the end of his career training in gi and losing means that definitively that training in gi is useless for mma… PS many times people credit their wrestling for mma and Ronda sure did credit her judo
Gabi Garcia!!
What is Sasaki's back take called (at 3:18)?
I don't think bj training in the gi was wrong, what he didn't do was training heel hooks for a guy who's been doing it a lot. It's like training for a fight with khabib and not training wrestling.
Gordon raging after a quick shot of T.
3:33 dafuq? That's possible?
Judo is a completely different art. Of course you're not going to have wrestlers credit their Judo training because they're not training in Judo. Gi, and no gi BJJ are the same styles. Gordon Ryan is a bit thick. He's not very bright.
Or rizin have very good grapples or the half of their practitioners never trained in any for of ground submission art(bjj, shoot, catch wrestling, luta livre etc)
Gabi needs to start fighting guys then he won’t need to hide his penis every fight
Bjjscout: I see we've been on similar fb threads, mystery man.
Gordon makes a good point. If I was to train for an mma fight, I would focus on the actual variables to be encountered rather than waste precious time and energy on a secondary and often completely inapplicable variable, (the Gi). I train both and they are similar yet present VERY UNIQUE differences that can mean winning or losing. I am a purple belt now who competes often but one of the things to stick in my mind early on as a white belt was how effective I was at NoGi against even brown belts who trained mostly Gi just due to my strength and athleticism whereas back then those same upper belts would have dominated in the Gi. Why? Because they trained almost entirely in the Gi vs NoGi.
Have also been around Gordon at 2 seminars and seen him roll both Gi and NoGi vs other competitive black belts. His NoGi skill set supercedes his Gi but what most people don’t realize is his grappling skills all around supercede most black belts who have twice as much time training. Why? Efficiency. I have not seen anyone in person as efficient in zeroing in on dominance of position and then apply the subs he leads others into as well. Ryan Hall is 33 vs Gordon who is 23 and size difference aside, would not be much of a fair match vs Gordon even in his prime. Yet Ryan brought jiu jitsu to an mma match against a very much older Penn, who is not all that familiar with leg locks at that level so yes, if BJ had focused more on leg lock defense, he probably would have shut down Ryan Hall’s obvious focus and smashed his face in likely for a knock out. Ryan’s striking was very basic and he knew that going in so he gambled on Penn over looking what Ryan Hall is better than most at, 50/50 leg locks.
The idea that training in the gi doesn't help you in no gi grappling is completely ridiculous. Almost every takedown and sweep you can do in the gi can still work without the gi and vice versa, and many submissions that use the gi also have no gi variations. For the most part the only thing that changes is the grips you use. Does the presence or absence of the gi make certain techniques more viable? Yes, but that doesn't mean all techniques that benefit from the gi are impossible without it, nor that all techniques that benefit from the absence of the gi are impossible in the gi. In fact, I think there are many techniques that are just as viable with and without the gi.
all im gonna say jiu jitsu bjj more judo than juju
UFC get Gabi on board.
The female Brock.
Gordon is right though. Ryan Hall is definitely a very talented grappler but he just can't compete with the top guys these days. Any of top 100 grapplers would destroy Ryan Hall.
U guys realize ryan hall sells bjj instructionals in the gi?
I pretty sure Gabi is not required to do any testing before or after her fights .
Wtf is up with tonon ringworm
Anybody know the correct pronoun to use for Gabi Garcia?
Training in the Gi and No Gi will 100% help in a street fight…MMA, I’d have to agree that you better spend your time trng no Gi
Where is the Gary Tonon breakdown of Ryan Hall's heelhook sourced from?
I don’t kno about all this controversy…I just kno Ryan Hall is a goofy looking sucker lol
Gordon should grow some balls and fight mma then. Smh roidhead
Gordon the roidhead, raging out….typical
