Early developmental days from the “attacking the guard” series. As we always speak about, one of our goals is to create the threat of submission. You can’t just look to pass the guard, you must look to attack the guard, to integrate passing AND submissions. Here is a fine example of a counter to a traditional deep half guard, moving from a Kimura, to rear triangle. This is was 2015 in the Grapplers Quest 185 lb pro division, where i went up in weight (as i always used to do) to avoid being in garrys weight (170 lbs), which he won. This was my 1st real pro tournament with $1000 cash prize. To think this was only 5 years ago is pretty crazy, and just goes to show you how much you can accomplish if you just work on getting a little better each day, everyday.
