My friend @riccardoammendoliabjj did an awesome job breaking down my recent @f2wbjj main event Kimura victory on @flograppling! The knee cut pass straight to the Kimura has been one of my strongest finishing sequences for a long time. There are a lot of details involved & Riccardo did an excellent job of pointing out many of them. Some of the πβs are recognizing their arm position as soon as you pass & making sure you grab the hand instead of the wrist when finishing the kimura π
Last week I shared a video of me teaching this technique & how I set it up inside my Facebook group (link in bio ππΌ) & I have compiled all my recent #TechniqueTuesday videos into my new TimelessJiu-Jitsu Blog. Check them out here: https://www.timelessjiujitsu.com/blog

Get Up!!! π₯
β’
Started the week off with some light #TGUβs this morning πͺπΌ One of my favorite #kettlebell exercises & one of the most functional for @timeless_jiujitsu. This is an excellent way to learn how to move underneath weight & build total body strength. I usually do these as a warm up or inside of a circuit. Little weight can go a long way! Who else does Turkish Get Ups??? @greenstrengthiv

Did you know that I didnβt develop confidence in my mount until I was a Black Belt???
β’
As fundamental as the mount is, it is one of the last positions you will master. Naturally, it takes a lot more work to mount someone & is probably the position you spend the least amount of time in. That plus the fear of getting rolled over usually makes people prefer side control or the back for their main finishing positions.
β’
For me, there is no stronger place to finish someone than the mount because of the way you can smother them & efficiently attack their neck & both arms at the same time. The skills that you will develop as you build your mount game are invaluable! Weight distribution, pressure, balance, patience etc… all when combined properly can make someone tap literally from your mount itself or give you an easy submission because they want out of there so bad.
β’
Here is an example of me capitalizing on an over extended bridge to catch the rolling armbar. Hip mobility is very important when riding your opponentβs bumps & explosions. You can see me use several hip switches & adjustments throughout this sequence. As we age, we will want to limit the movement of our opponents & make them waist as much energy as possible to try to escape. This is why the Mount is @timeless_jiujitsu π₯βΎ
β’
@xanderibeirojj & I broke down this finish together last week in a Live Class we did in my Facebook group that you can join here – https://www.facebook.com/groups/timelessjj/ or click the link in my bio ππΌ
