Lee has gotten dropped by Iaquinta, Barboza, and knocked out by Santos. When has such a thing ever happened to Khabib? I don't think Lee has the kind of power to take Khabib out standing, and I think Khabib is more skilled on the ground, but we'll see… It all comes down I think to: who's better on the ground? It will be interesting…

BJJ scout, I'm honestly not impressed at all with this video. I loved your other ones where you really analysed in depth fighter's footwork, handfighting ect. but here it seems like your logic is not the greatest and you're quickly jumping to conclusions as the people you're condemning do.

The Iaquinta fight was 4 years ago and Lee has really evolved since then in his stand-up, he was outworking Edson on the feet with both bodykicks as well as his boxing. Edson landed a handful of jabs but overall he was being beaten and he has some of the fastest most technical strikes in the game, just because he can land doesn't mean Khabib will.
Khabib did land jabs against Al, alot of them to his credit but the reason for that was Al's gameplan change as Alpaca Thesaurus's video showed. in the first round Al defended jabs well but they were being used as a feint to set up the single leg, Iaquinta realized that and started refusing to react to the jabs in order to look to set-up big shots. That's why he was being tagged so easily because he didn't want to give Khabib a chance for the takedown, that and being totally unprepared for the fight.

Lastly, Kevin has a 7" reach advantage over khabib and he's showed a good jab himself in the barboza fight; who do you think is going to connect with the punch first?

I do agree with you on Eddie however, really aggressive, powerful, pressuring stand-up combined with very good defensive wrestling and scrambling ability.

Lee vs Khabib is most exciting match up for me, because they are both powerful wrestlers and I just wanna know who is stronger. I cannot imagine Khabib manhandling Lee like everybody else, also don't forget that Khabib has not faced a fighter with strong wrestling skills in a while. So this is should be very interesting.

I feel Dustin does have a better shot against khabib. He does seem to show more awareness to adapting his game as opposed to Lee seems to panic shots when he has trouble.

You're pointing out some exact same points here I've been commenting to chumps these last few days saying Lee beats Khabib. Wether it be internet or Kenny Florian.
I too suspect Alvarez to have the biggest stylistic counter for Nurm.

Lee has outgrappled some very physically strong grapplers (Chiesa, Prazeres, Trinaldo), like Khabib has (Tibau and Healy). Khabib will not wrestlefuck Lee. They'll end up striking, which Lee has the advantage in. Khabib's striking is laughable from a technical standpoint. Lee, on the other hand, has improved leaps and bounds since teaming up with the Black Cobra.

Had Lee finished Barboza in the 2nd, like he should have, he would have gotten a title shot. Instead, he will fight Poirier. Poirier, who, surprisingly, in 20 or so UFC bouts, has never faced one of the division's stronger grapplers, is a bad matchup for both Khabib and Lee in that he is very good against the cage (Pettis fight), but his heavy hands make him particularly dangerous for the chinny Lee.

Question: Do you think that a strong “wrestling” style is what’s needed to actually beat Khabib? Because in theory – the best people that fit that would be Alvarez, Lee, and maybe Gaethje (if he started using it).

Because I’m starting to think someone with superior footwork and better “cage awareness” would have the best chance. Sort of like a Holm vs Rousey scenario. Holly had better footwork and was able to avoid the bull rush – and in addition had good cage awareness and looked to be aware of how close she was to the fence at all times.

I think if the latter style is the case – it’s McGregor and Holloway who have the best shot.

I’m genuinely curious to see your response and I think it would be the subject of a great video. In addition, how much of a role do you think Conor’s usage of the ‘distance trap’ would come into play against Khabib?

I wouldn't rely on older fights to gauage a fight between Khabib and Lee now. That Lee vs Iaquinta fight was from 2014, Lee was 7-1 at the time. Lee as a relatively young, up and coming fighter is a bit harder to gauge. Not that I think he wins a fight with Khabib. I don't know who wins that at this point, but would be interesting.

Al Iaquinta fought Kevin Lee when Lee had 0 fights in the UFC and was just 21 years old.. Is it safe to assume he got better after 4 years and 13 fights?

Kevin lee does not stand a chance against khabib, dustin is actually poses more threats despite still being a huge underdog, everybody's a underdog against khabib including conor and tony but they all still have a chance but if you rely on wrestling like kevin does? then GTFO your wasting everybody's time, Khabib is handsdown #1 pound for pound best wrestler in mma by far, dc&ben askren aren't even close, this dude was toying with al iaquinta a world class fighter, he was treating a championship bout like a sparring session to improve his striking, kevin doesn't have conor mgregor level striking nor does dustin have tony jiu jitsu neither of them any where near to be ready to fight khabib, as a khabib fan, I wouldn't mind easy squash fights tho.

Kevin Lee would be an interesting fight for Khabib. I'm not sure how much bigger he would be – and a lot would depedn on that, but I could see Kevin's strenght being enough to stop the takedowns. On the feet, Kevin Lee seems to be more well rounded and he's hungry and keeps improving. It's hard to say who would come out on top in the end because Khabib's striking is quite unorthodox. Khabib has also never been rocked or cut and he was able to keep Iaquanta at bay with just the jab. As for Poirier, I can't imagine him being able to keep the fight standing for very long so I don't give him much of a chance.

Eddie vs iaquinta. Poirer has outdone eddie their last 2 fights yet eddie refuses to fight porier. Back of the line for him. Porier vs kevin lee is the fight. Both fights on same card. Fighter with most impressive performance gets khabib in september after Ramadan if Conor doesnt come fight in september. They have plenty of time if they set it up asap. Tony will be ready next year.

Khabibs striking is of the same principle as Nick and Nates: "It's not pretty, but it's effective."
    (same principle, not same level)

Kevin is a good wrestler, however, he's a college level at best, khabib is easily an olympics level, kevin stand up isn't the scariest either, I don't think it'll be hard for khabib dealing with him.

Come onnnnn. This channel is AWESOME, but to take the piss out of MMA math and then go ahead and use it is silly (I don't mean the intro, the intro WAS the taking the piss part) – trying to use previous footage of Lee from years back when the guy is still only 25 now is just redundant. It doesn't even LOOK like the same guy.
