Scout, question for you: it looked like Lo was using a double palm-up grip on some of those cross chokes. I think it's usually easier to finish an x-choke with both palms facing down. both up seems like it would be especially difficult. thoughts?
yep good u spotted that. Palm down seems easier at first, but then you would be missing the ability to rotate the palm up hand (the left one) to face down to finish of the choke vs people who fight it. This extra 1-2 inches you get in wrist rotation movement makes the palm up version more effective on the margin
Scout, why would we underhook if we can cross grip off the bat?
well Lo's first choice is the underhook, facecrank is his plan B. If you look at the Scouting Leandro Lo vid, you will see that its even easier to turn into DHG from the crank
You asked about suggestions for your next series. I've been thinking. JJ Lab has done quite a few but not as much detail. There isn't jack out there on Galvao. I think he should be next.
true galvao is interesting….but he already has an online portal so I'm not too keen on that frankly

is there a similar technique to the face crank you can go when you cant get underhook in No Gi?
I used to use this pass a lot, I'm going to get back into it, there's just barely any opportunities to do so, cos I now break out of the guard and go to leg drag, from almost anywhere. but i used to use one of those neck tie chokes right after getting this pass on a bigger guy
