Reverse Shoe Lace North South Pin Pass

Reverse Shoe Lace North South Pin Pass

I forgot what John Danaher called this, so forgive the long name. But at least it’s very descriptive. πŸ™‚

From our high tripod pass, if we get stuck with a solid defender and unable to budge them, we can switch our grips. We can move both our hands on top of their shins, but in the reverse grip – with our fingers pointing towards their feet.

At first, it might not seem like much, as our opponent will still be in a defensive position. But we then circle towards the north south position as we put our weight on their shins. As we start rounding the corner and getting towards the other side of their body, our pin is revealed – as their knees will come crashing down on the far side of the mat. This gives us a back exposure, allowing all sorts of attacks to commence.
