Why do the Turkish Get Up if you train BJJ? Here are just a few reasons (not an exhaustive list).

It’s an excellent exercise to train and test your ability maintain a stable spinal position (ribs and shoulder blades down, hips “tucked”/no hyper extension in the lower back) under load, using movements very applicable to BJJ. When we lose this positioning with the spine, it limits our range of motion and ability to generate force.

It’s an excellent exercise for rotational strength, key in BJJ.

The constant tension and variety of positions endured by the shoulder, make it fantastic for building strong, healthy and stable shoulders. A part of the body that plague many grapplers.
