Keenan's criticism of the lack of EBI talent is on point. They've only had scrubs like Miyao, Craig Jones, Tex, bill cooper, Martinez Bros, Rani Yahya, Baret Yoshida, PJ Barch, etc. Josh and Keenan complaining about people getting OT positions that they could never earn: yeah ok. You can't submit people you consider scrubs in regulation then you definitely shouldn't be competing. You know who hasn't had a hard time avoiding overtime in EBI? Tonon, Ryan, and Cummings. ???
Overtime in those positions is what makes it more of a spectator sport. IBJJF after a match is over the ref just goes yea this guy. That's not as fun to watch, EBI there is a clear winner. And it's more entertaining when you force people to play from positions they strive to never get it.
Some of the early EBI's had some lesser known guys and I think they were some of the most entertaining tournaments. They didn't have big reputations to protect and so went all out.

Lincoln has never taken a class with Ralph in his life. He's Ryan Gracie originally and now Renzo. It's obvious he didn't see the elbow. He saw his professors brother in an altercation and went to help break it up. Gracie Barra is head hunting this guy. He is in the cross fire of this Gracie family beef and he's paying the price. Most BJJ guys don’t care about getting to an audience outside the BJJ community. To do that you need some fireworks, something that threatens a submission the same way in ufc someone could get knocked out at anytime. If it comes out draw in regulation THEN we get to see what the two fighters are really made of.
