We have been looking at some mount escapes recently. And a mount escape into deep half maybe my favourite. To the novice when you are in deep half it might appear that you have not progressed your position. But nothing could be further than the truth. When you are in a truly good deep half…you are in control and you will get that sweep! It takes a while to get the ‘feel’ for this position but stick with it. Once you perfect it…even when your partner knows you are going for deep half – they will struggle to prevent it. This is enormously popular with my students and is used often on the mat and to great impact in competition.
