Richie Martinez is one of the top first-generation 10th Planet competitors and a professional grappling veteran. Since finishing second in the very first EBI event, Richie has competed for virtually every major promotion all around the world. He is one of the most popular figures in the 10th Planet affiliation, and still competes at the highest level today.
Jits Magazine spoke to Richie about his experience transitioning from breakdancing to Jiu-Jitsu, and his journey through the ranks. He also talked about his experiences with team grappling both in Polaris and Quintet, and the future of 10th Planet as a team. We then spoke about his upcoming match against Xande Ribeiro at Who’s Number One 27.
