Develop Your Open Guard – To Stop People Passing Your Guard

Open guard is a very cool guard and totally applicable in gi and no-gi. In this video, I discuss some great open guard drills that will have a tremendously positive impact on your guard retention. Now the first thing you must learn about open guard is that you should never let people control your legs! why? because they do this to eliminate (or significantly reduce) the impact of two of your powerful weapons. Don’t do that! Now part of this drill is continuously rotating one of your weapons every 20 seconds or so. This builds the habit of keeping dynamic rather than static.
