people want gordon to do gi so bad because they're hoping he'll lose in it lol. theyre just trying to take away from his success in no gi. AJ is really dumb. all gordon said was that he didnt enjoy gi and will focus on mma then AJ comes at him as if he's insulting people who do gi

Gordon & John are a huge mistake.
Gordon needs experience. As he gets better in mma he should be doing low level fights. Even if it’s for little money. If he’s 3-0 and facing a ufc contender it’ll be way too soon. He’ll be too nervous and he’ll have little chance when if he was 10-0 then he may well have won

He has those big muscles now. That seems to be his main focus posting pictures of him and his wonderful muscular body. Now those muscles dont mean shit when you put on the gi. Those muscles make him big and slow. I would get rid of the gi also

Only recently caught up with all the current top BJJ guys but as it stands AJ seems like the biggest douche?

Good move, no gi BJJ to mma is a lot more exciting for the general public. With Hall, Kron and Ortega fighting this year we should be in for some exciting fights.

Honestly who still believes that training in the gi is the best way to train for mma? That’s like me playing ping pong to get better at tennis, it won’t hurt but is definitely not the most efficient way to train

His first fight in MMA should be against Ryan Hall who cares about the weight… What Ryan Hall did to BJ Penn was insane I never thought anyone could do that to BJ…

Don’t sell yourself short on being at Jon Jones level, Gord. You definitely at some point have had the same steroid levels

  22. Paragon of Growth says

    January 15, 2019 at 5:55 pm

There will never be big money in the gi world……. because it is boring. If bjj ever does blow up it will be no gi sub only. People want finishes and a fast pace. Not position points and grip breaking.

  23. Paragon of Growth says

    January 15, 2019 at 5:57 pm

why on earth are poeple saying training in the gi is good for mma when no gi is an option….wtf

  24. Active Guard says

    January 15, 2019 at 6:02 pm

It was a stupid idea him going to the gi.

    1. He’s the best in the world at no gi
    2. The money is in no gi
    3. If he wants to transition to MMA he should stick to no gi

(Ps I love and prefer the gi)

Waiting till you have Jon Jones level?? Lol please. You need another life time kid. Don’t think just because you did steroids that some day it may happens.

  28. Armando Vela says

    January 15, 2019 at 8:00 pm

Lol Craig jones is a clown

  29. T Le says

    January 15, 2019 at 8:57 pm

Damn, it's sad how pathetic some people's lives are to be hating so bad. I don't like Gordon's attitude at times, but the kid just wants to follow his dream. Already dominated the no-gi scene at 23, fuck who knows how far he can go. Jon Jones level is another level though…. Best of luck to him

  30. Bane says

    January 15, 2019 at 9:18 pm

AJ is an idiot. Why train in a gi if you and your opponent aren't allowed to wear gis? It's so ridiculous. That's like training wrestling in a gi. There's no purpose for it.

  31. Marcellino Sananto says

    January 15, 2019 at 9:32 pm

If his plan is to do MMA, sticking to no gi makes sense. . . I hope for his sake hes training striking and wrestling as well.

  32. Jon Moris says

    January 15, 2019 at 10:45 pm

The gis a difrent game its harder to transition from no gi to gi than the other way around and at the level his at in no gi he would never reach that level in a gi now so i dont blame him but i personally dont think he will do good in mma

  33. GlitchRealm says

    January 15, 2019 at 11:58 pm

lol this didnt motivate me for my first year of no gi

  34. GlitchRealm says

    January 15, 2019 at 11:59 pm

you cant reach jon jones like its bjj belt … fighting and mma works differently

  35. Rey Anthony Renacia says

    January 16, 2019 at 12:10 am

Im with Gordon Ryan, why should you train in the Gi when MMA fights don't have kimonos to cling upon? HAHAHAHA Try to grab a lapel and the nearest thing is your opponent's nipples lol

  36. Poems Perfect says

    January 16, 2019 at 7:07 am

It's come to something when a man can't decide which way he wants to live his life, and career to go. Is this the middle-ages or something, where a man was vilified or castrated for not following the sheeple majority? Floridaboy should shut his mouth and mind his own business

  37. Louis D’ la Riviere says

    January 16, 2019 at 11:30 am

Sorry but you can’t call that retirement, I understand the kid, addicted to win, frustrated with the gi and unwilling to get exposed with the IBJJF gi modality.

  38. Zedek says

    January 16, 2019 at 5:18 pm

It's not that you can't learn good techniques with the gi, it's just that it's completely unnecessary. Wrestling is the most dominant form of grappling in MMA, and while most people learn BJJ to avoid submissions, the overwhelming majority of grapplers win via ground and pound, either as a finisher, or to dominate via points.
    https://a.espncdn.com/photo/2018/0131/r321687_4_1296x864_3-2.png
Really the only exception is Demien Maia.

Point being, olympic wrestlers certainly did not need the gi. It's obvious the gi is completely irrelevant to learning good grappling skills. Certainly nothing wrong with using it; it's a sturdy, utilitarian training outfight, but we all know that there are some really esoteric submissions via the gi that truly aren't applicable.

  39. Mirage- says

    January 16, 2019 at 5:22 pm

So now we have an ex wrestler defending the gi lol. The funny thing is that Aj actually made a couple of great points – not regarding the fact you should train in the gi for MMA (you probably shouldn't…) but regarding how the truth is Gordon quit gi because he wasn't having sucess with it and didn't want to compete in a field he wasn't dominant at. Also AJ, what's up with the correct grammar, punctuation, and no emoji spam, I'm not used to actually readable social media posts from BJJ fighters anymore.

  40. cunn1n6ham says

    January 16, 2019 at 11:05 pm

Why everyone hate on Gordon? If he thinks gi isn’t helpful for MMA training that’s fine…nothing wrong with that. Who cares whether you train gi or no gi…train what you enjoy

  41. Coffee Cool says

    January 17, 2019 at 12:23 am

Gracie Jiu Jitsu is shit with the Gi just ask Sakuraba and Yoshida

  42. BuickV says

    January 17, 2019 at 6:17 am

GR starts saying "people will hate me for this" because he doesn't care what people say of him. Right.

  43. darren tay says

    January 17, 2019 at 8:44 am

Did AJ just went full retard and insinuate that training in the gi actually makes you better in mma where they don't wear gis?
