I like to teach straight ankle locks to my white belt students. I think getting a good understanding of this part of the game early on in your Jiu-Jitsu career puts you in great shape as you progress through your game. However, many white belt students give up on Ankle locks early because they can’t seem to finish them. And the blame is placed on the Anklelock, or ‘it just doesn’t work for me’…but the reality is, the weakness is in the execution, not the technique.
