“You’re just strong.” This is such a common excuse people use in BJJ. It’s one almost every larger person has heard used as to why they were able to win the roll or match.
Recently I got a question from Adrian who is a bigger stronger guy in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.
He says he sometimes get the comment “you’re so strong” in a passive aggressive manner. Both from lower belts but also fellow Black Belts.
I can’t even understand how a Black Belt makes such a insidious comment like this. Playing the Blame Game in BJJ sabotages your game. Because you don’t take responsibility of your own game.
In this video I discuss a couple of the experiences I’ve had with people making excuses about my strength in Brazilian Jiujitsu.
I talk about a funny story related to it. But also how I deal with people who have negative comments about my strength during BJJ training or rolling.
The biggest point I try to make is that we have to take responsibility for our game. And playing the blame game and pointing the finger at others is such a un-resourceful way to train.
Talk to you guys next time.
