Brandon McCaghren shares how and why he created the world’s first major Jiu-Jitsu league, the Professional Grappling Federation (PGF).

PGF founder Brandon McCaghren gives us the exclusive news that reigning champion Reese LaFever is returning to defend his title at PGF World Season 8!

Brandon McCaghren is a 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu black belt and the founder of the Professional Grappling Federation. The PGF has gone from strength to strength over the last few years and has evolved into one of the biggest grappling promotions in the world. They now host 3 seasons every year with a total prize pool of $100,000 every single time.

Jits Magazine spoke to Brandon briefly about his personal Jiu-Jitsu journey and what it was like to train under Eddie Bravo from such a long distance away, but most of our conversation was centered on PGF. Brandon shared how he came up with the idea of a Jiu-Jitsu league and why he constantly pushes to improve the format. He also shared exciting and exclusive news about the upcoming PGF World Season 8, along with some crazy plans for the 9th and 10th seasons that will take place later in 2025.

Chris Wojcik is a top-four finisher in the under 88kg division at ADCC 2024 and the finalist of PGF World Season 7, along with being the brains behind The Grappler’s Diary. Chris currently trains at B-Team Jiu-Jitsu and is preparing for an upcoming appearance at EBI 22: The Welterweights.

Ryan Aitken is a two-time Combat Jiu-Jitsu middleweight world champion and the reigning EBI absolute champion, but he most recently won PGF World Season 7 at light-heavyweight. Ryan is also a 10th Planet black belt and an ADCC veteran, with an upcoming match with Gabriel Almeida at UFC Fight Pass Invitational 9.

Jits Magazine spoke to Ryan about his journey up to winning his first CJJ world title, and how he was able win the title for a second time. We also spoke about both of his incredible performances at EBI 21: The Absolutes and PGF World Season 7, along with his tactical approach to EBI overtime.
