I have fell in love with the Switch from the Guards the last few years and teach it often. I was at an open mat with 7 black belts and a bunch of savage purples that work AGF. We were in Jackson, Mississippi at my buddy Anthony Mitchellβs gym, Precision Martial Arts.

Early Defense is always hand fighting. Late defense is going to Octopus Guard.
I love using the Underhook for entries into sweeps & takedowns too!

This is the one move I have accidentally knocked out a training partner with while going fast. Be careful! Once you understand it it can be done controlled though and vs any foot placement by an opponent.
Lots of goodies here!

James Pitman is a purple under Donny Blue whom is my 2nd black belt. He recently twistered a guy at AGF. This match had a near twister and a solid calf slicer.
You can tell what heβs been working on!

Gavin had a highlight of a day in Kids Grey NoGi and Challenger Division. He won Gi too but was beaten in the Challenger by a Yellow.
No special training. 3x per week, the school did Ashi sweeps. He REALLY liked that subject and took off with it!
This is Atlanta 8/7/21 AGF of course

There are just a couple ways to finish the Darce, like all submissions, so the key is to catch entrances!
This is an awesome drill I do with kids and adults!

Here I teach what I call the Back Door Armbar vs the Stack Defense.
I often teach the principal of deflection of strength and weight (aka power). The Back Door #Armbar is a perfect example of this. An added perk is rotational movement in the shoulder as it is very controlling and a weak body part to battle
This technique helps us stay off our necks, prevent additional defense & attacks and stay on the submission hunt.
