Recently I got an email from a guy who says that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training has a higher dropout rate than buds, aka the first phase of Navy Seal training.
He says the reason is because of the poor technical training that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gyms often provide.
I thought this comment was pretty interesting and thought we could chew on these ideas for BJJ together.
In this video I talk about the times when I first started training BJJ, during its mainstream boost, and the times before then too and how different the training structure was compared to now, and how much higher the attrition rate was back then compared to how it is now.
I also answer a few common questions: is Jiu-Jitsu for everyone? Why do some people stick around while others don’t? and what other things should we consider before comparing the training of BUDS and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.
Hopefully you find the ideas in this video useful for you.
