In this video you’ll learn. Not much, but you’ll still learn something. Namely: What does the noon class at Legion look like? What is it like when @FloGrappling visits your academy. Which is worse, rolling with Keenan or running from a pack of stray dogs in a third world country?
This video will help you experience Legion, but if you want to experience it in person, you can plan a visit at https://legionsandiego.com. If you’re a San Diego local, you may be eligible for free training too!
If you want to learn the technique that Keenan showed in this very class you can find it on https://keenanonline.com
Following Keenan’s epic Europeans performance you can also get 15% off the Lapel Encyclopedia at https://lapelguard.com
That is all.
This video is a look at some of the most common and difficult grips you’ll encounter in the gi game. Strong grips can be stifling, really disrupting your movement and threatening with sweeps and submissions. Knowing how to shut these grips down is tantamount to knowing how to effectively attack with them.
Here is a breakdown of the contents of this video from various positions, standing and ground, of the grips you’re likely to experience and how to shut them down.
• The Taylor Swift Lapel Break
• Knuckles-in Lapel Break
• Cross Collar Grip Mitigation
• Label Grip Strip
• Sleeve Grip Twist Break
• Knee Assisted Sleeve Grip Break
• Hip Bump Grip Break
• Radial Assist Grip Break
• Pant Grip Kick Strip
• Cross Side Kick Strip
• Cross Collar Duck Under
• X-Choke Defense
I hope you like these and get some good use from them for your training and competition. Let me know if you have questions about any others that I left out of this video.

Technical mount is a kneeling mount variation of the mount that is potentially more dangerous than standard mount as your opponent has closer access to take your back and you have less defenses. Depending on his posture and energy, your survival and escape strategies have to be appropriate in order to be effective and efficient.
•
These are the best escapes I have come across and use frequently over the years. Nothing is perfect, but I haven’t seen anything that keeps you safer and gets you out more efficiently and faster than these four options. Each option is contingent on what space the top opponent is allowing you to have.
•
I hope you like these and get some usefulness out of them. Let me know in the comments if you have a goto escape not included here. Thank you as always for watching!

This series starts from a sweep that seems too simple to be true. However, after being on the giving and receiving side of it, I’ve found it not only to be useful, but a great initiative for submissions and transition opportunities. In this video, I show the fundamentals of this simple scissor sweep variation, as well as transitions from the opponent’s possible reactions and finally a rear naked choke and triangle choke available from it.

There are lots of great instructional resources for entries and entanglements, but I have had several requests from people who have very little experience with these submissions, asking for a breakdown of the basics. So this video explores some basic, essential and fundamental areas of the leg attack game.
•
Filmed on location at BJJ Fanatics headquarters, this video was made after Jared Jessup and I completed filming on two new instructionals that will be released soon. One will be exploring the potential use of applying gi-based chokes using street clothing for self defense. The other is a deep dive into the five crucial considerations (techniques and concepts) from the main positions of the positional hierarchy.
•
We would like to thank BJJ Fanatics for the hospitality and opportunity. Stay tuned for more info on those resources and check out my first one “Jiu-Jitsu Based Self Defense Solutions” available now at https://tinyurl.com/stef4za

Back when yours truly was a purple belt, I learned an overhook closed guard trap series from Jimmy Harbison. The attacks that flows from it were a mir lock, a kimura and a triangle, but the execution on the mir lock always eluded me.
I couldn’t hit it consistently.
But recently, I had a revelation, and the success shot through the roof.

This is the longest video of seminar footage I have released to date.
I have been refining this side control escape series for over 6 years, and it is based on a lot more years of study, learning and testing than that. I am feeling more and more confident and proud of it, not only for the escape options it contains, but for the principles it represents.
•
This seminar took place at Capital MMA & Elite Fitness in Alexandria, Virginia. We cover some basics and fundamental concepts of escaping bottom side control and then we get into some troubleshooting and Q&A that leads to some fun tips and tricks. I hope you like it.
