Sometimes in an attack the person may pin your wrists to the ground. Many times to force you comply or give up. We discuss a few options on how to escape. The first step is to position your hips so you can bridge and free your arms. Then once your arms are free you can escape much easier.
This video I bring you my good friend Peter “Sugarfoot” Cunningham to show you an awesome left hook counter. Check out the details and you are sure to find something useful! Enjoy! The right help at the right time can change someone’s life forever.
10 YEARS since Austin McDaniel was viscously assaulted by a bully at school. His body was injured and his spirit was broken. We flew him and his family to California for one week of immersive Gracie Bullyproof training. You won’t believe the man he has become since.

What’s up guys, today’s video is a unique one as it comes from inside the podcast studio!
I got some questions from you guys these past weekend during the Chewjitsu Open, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition that I’ll be running all around the states.
This weekend’s Louisville tournament had a great turn out and I’m excited to meet more of you at the next one.
Anyways, on to the question.
During the comp, I was talking to several young competitors and one of the big issues is the nerves associated with competition.
A good example is a man named Nathan who competed at my tournament this weekend. He came to a seminar the following event and told me that he lost his first match and just felt shaky, weak, and just off.
But, those next 3 Jiu-Jitsu matches, he won!
He said that after that first match, which he felt bad, he felt great. This is pretty common.
A lot of people struggle with that first match. It can be hard to get that initial lunge blow in and calm the nerves until you’ve actually gone through a live situation.
So, how can you deal with those nerves before that first match?
Well, in this video I’ll get you 2 ideas to chew on that have helped me, and various students, perform to our potential during BJJ competitions.
Hopefully you found this video helpful. Thanks for watching!

Zero-sum theory for BJJ competition, described by Cal MacDonald, a BJJ black belt who has has dedicated himself to developing his teaching and coaching skills to the highest possible level. This is from BJJ Foundations, the brand new amazing training curriculum, now available at https://www.grapplearts.com/bjj-foundations
Officer Jesse Zuniga from Mission P.D. (Texas) responded to a call for service when a man was accused of attempting to break into the car of a woman and her infant child. When Officer Zuniga arrived the man thew something at his patrol car and took an aggressive stance which prompted the officer to respond with his jiu-jitsu training. Officer Zuniga is fortunate to work at an agency that offers weekly jiu-jitsu training to it’s officers, and we are very proud to see the level of technique, control, and compassion he displayed during this interaction.
As a toke of our appreciation, we would like to invite Officer Zuniga to attend any 5-day GST Instructor Certification Course worldwide.

So, today we’ve got a question from a Newly promoted Brown Belt, Evan, who is a hobbyist that finds himself having a case of the “Brown Belt Blues.”
Usually, you hear about the Blue Belt Blues, but today’s situation in a little different, or at least the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Belt color is.
He says that at his gym he’s at the appropriate belt level. But, when he goes online and starts looking at the people who are competing at the Blue/Purple/Brown Belt competitions, he just doesn’t think he’s at that level.
He obviously finds this disheartening.
Sometimes he finds that he has no idea what these lower belts are even doing when they compete and now, he’s suffering with a bit of imposter syndrome as a result of that.
He asks what I’d do to deal with the doubt of his rank in BJJ.
In this video I’ll give Evan, and you guys, 2 ideas to chew on. 1 idea you guys might not like much, but I’m sure the other will be reassuring for some of you.
Hopefully, if you’re struggling with a similar issue, then you found today’s video helpful.
Thanks for watching.
