Principle 29: Redirection
Reducing your opponentโs effectiveness by controlling the direction of their energy.
There are two primary ways to redirect energy: 1) change the angle of impact, or 2) intercept the energy. In the best cases, successful redirection of your opponentโs energy will create an opportunity for you to launch an effective counter attack. But, at the very least, the redirection will stifle your opponentโs technique, deplete their energy and frustrate them in the process. The Redirection Principle epitomizes the adage โuse your opponentโs energy against them.โ
