Mobility is strength training

Properly designed mobility training is not just “stretching” or random flows.
•Flexibility: the amount of PASSIVE motion your have assess to.
•Mobility: the amount of ACTIVE motion you have assess to.
That being said you cannot move where you cannot move.
In FRS system there a clear pathway on developing mobility and joint health.
1️⃣create a larger workspace
2️⃣train and utilize that workspace so you can control it.

If you do not have the base requirements for a movement pattern you will either rely on a compensatory pattern to perform or will be unable to perform at all. .
The continuum for performance:
1️⃣Mobility: you cannot develop strength or speed in ranges you cannot move.
2️⃣Control: you cannot develop strength or speed in ranges you cannot control.
3️⃣Strength: once sufficient mobility and control is achieved you can develop the necessary strength in those ranges of motion.

This movement, commonly known as a reverse nordic curl, is the same as on a FRS concept – eccentric neural grooving. .
I don’t have a before and after video but when I had my last Functional Range Assessment 6 months ago my passive prone knee flexion range of motion was 90 degrees.
.
To build up capacity I’ve been using anterior thigh PAILs/RAILs- passive holds with end range isometric contractions. After some time training the quadriceps the goal was to train the entire motion via eccentric contraction to develop control.

Key point: Get an assessment to determine your deficits. Create a hierarchical plan to address those deficits. Select an Intervention. Re-assess to determine if your intervention was successful. .
Mobility training IS strength training.

Livia and Lachlan Giles From Absolute MMA Yoga for BJJ Special Lockdown Flow Class
Livia and Lachlan Giles take part in this live lockdown yoga flow class on instagram with Sebastian Brosche. Lachlan Giles and Livia both enjoy to be tested and have been doing some yoga for BJJ during the lockdown period so this class was designed to start at a beginner level and continue to ramp up. Join these 3 as they go through a pretty tough yoga flow workout and test their endurance and flexibility. There are plenty of good stretches in this class and it is a good full body yoga class that can be used as a test to see where you and your yoga practice and training is. If parts of this class get too hard you can watch along with them but try and test your abilities and improve yourself/
Livia Giles has medalled at ADCC, no gi worlds, world pro and is a world champion at brown belt, purple belt AND blue belt.
Lachlan Giles has competed on EBI, has medalled at multiple world championships as well as the ADCC world championship, the UAEJJF abu dhabi grand slam and is a pan american champion no gi and gi. They are both amazing coaches at Absolute MMA and are known very well amongst the jiu jitsu community for their accomplishments and content they share with us all.

Chilled Yoga Class | 48 Hour Lockdown Flow and Stretch

How To Do Crow Pose | Yoga for BJJ | Crow For Beginners

Full Body CARs Routine
In this sequence, I take you through a full body joint mobility routine. The joint circles are known as CARs (Controlled Articular Rotations).
This is a sequence I learned from the FRC (Functional Range Conditioning) principles and techniques that were taught at a course by Dr. Andreo Spina (check out www.functionalanatomyseminars.com if you want to find out more).
This is a sequence that I use daily to improve joint health through assisting with blood flow and circulation, maintaining joint mobility, and also improving the mobility in the joints. This sequence helps to bridge the mind-body connection, discover and also improve upon limitations, as well as is a great way to warm-up prior to activity or exercises.
Always begin with a comfortable and pain-free range with all movements. You will be able to gradually increase the size of the joint circles as you progress and repeat the movements.
