In today’s video I finally answer a question that I’ve been asked tons of times over the years. And that question is about how to do BJJ if you have a rib injury. I never had a good answer for rib injuries because it’s not something I had much experience with as a coach or an athlete.
Well, over the past 2 years 1 of my Black Belts experienced an issue with a rib injury. And, he found away to work around it using 2 methods which I talk about in the video. And, surprisingly, after it was all said and done, he’s actually far better at Jiu-jitsu than he was before.
So, if you’re dealing with a rib injury then I hope this video is useful to you!

Comparison is the thief of joy, right? Well, possibly. Comparison can also be an incredibly helpful. It just depends on what you’re comparing. And in this video I get into this idea to answer a question from James who says he’s struggling with comparing his BJJ journey to other people’s. He says he knows he shouldn’t do it, but he does it anyway and it’s negatively affecting him.

In today’s video I share a little secret for longevity in BJJ and a tip that is incredibly useful for making it to Black Belt and beyond. Now I know that language of “secrets” is a little hyperbolic, but I see so many people struggle with the idea I share in this video. I also, don’t see a lot of people talk about this. But it’s something that’s been helpful in my BJJ training and practice when forced to work around injuries or help my training partners do the same.
Now I’m sharing this because this situation just happened the other day with one of my Brazilian Jiu-jitsu students and it happens regularly.
